A second running of Laguna Seca. (At least I got to finish this one.)

We had an OK crowd until Larry disappeared prior to the start, and
Mitch offended the racing gods and got DQ'd. I _think_ that's what
happened to Mitch. We had a problem with Mitch and TeamSpeak.

Mitch, I think you had desktop speakers going instead of headphones,
because when you talked, all we could hear was the engine and tire
noises from the game. _Very_ difficult to make out what you were
saying.

I found a strategy to make the tires last: drive very slowly. <VBG>
Congrats to both Spudster and Neil. They seemed to have a strategy
that allowed them to go a _lot_ faster than me. Staying out of the
kitty litter probably helped.

At least my pit crew were fast.

How many more weeks until the F1 season starts? Five? Six?

Feel free to go back to F1 cars anytime.  We seemed to have lost a few more
guys since going to ETCC.

Hehe.  Not sure exactly why I got DQ'd.  I was pretty much within shouting
distance to Neil the entire race until I pitted.  I knew I was DQ'd
somewhere in the first few laps cause I was scoring fine then nothing.  Man
this sim/series makes me scratch my head at times :).

I had practiced for the past few weeks and settled on a 2 stop strategy at
lap 10 and 20 turning 1.37-38's.  Funny part was this was my first
experience with the new peddles and I could have easily made it on a single
stop maybe even without a stop if I conserved a tad and took the correct
fuel.  I actually noticed Neil was slowing at a faster pace than I was just
before I pitted, this is a FIRST and is a good sign :)

My understanding is that the F1 series runs in tandem with the RW
races. If so, we need _something_ to keep us off the streets and out
of trouble until March the whatever when Melbourne comes around.

I noticed that you had  no time posted during the practice session.
Yet I'm sure you did at least one complete lap. Perhaps there was
some kind of comms error between you and the server. The DQ may have
been purely comms and not anything you did. Did you hear the comment
Neil made about you not showing up on the lap scoring during the
race? I noticed that too -- I was running 3rd out of four, yet
everyone was in front of me. The computer knew you were there, but it
wasn't counting any of your laps. Very strange!

If you had rolled backward during practice or qualifying, you would have received a
dq.  For example:  You stuffed the corkscrew and decided to take the break in your
driving to view the other cars.  While you are viewing the other cars, your vehicle
could slide backwards down the hill.  You'd get a dq message, but since you are
busy looking at other cars, the message does not appear onscreen.
During a practice session, I once left my car in  kitty litter at a track and went
to take a pee.  By the time I got back the car had rolled several hundred yards
back down the track.  Was dq'd and didn't get timed for any of the qualifying or racing.
That may not be what happened, but it is at least something all ISI drivers
should be aware of.

Hi Darryl:

My best practice was 1:42, my very best ever is a 1:41.
That's 8 seconds off the best times I was seeing in practice,
and 4 seconds slower than the next driver.

I decided to impose a 107% rules on myself.

I'm curious to know if I'd be any good with a decent setup.

Would you folks send me your setups for Laguna?  I'd like to
see if I can drive any faster.  Please mention the type of car
your setup is for.

Please clearly indicate the contents of your email.  So I
can pick it out from the one hundred spams I get everyday.

                                                        Thanks
                                                        Larry

Thanks everyone:

I tried your setup on the BMW.  I've always had trouble
keeping the Beamer pointed the right way on the road.

I was able to do a 1:48 in my first several laps.

I'm going to have to get back to work. but I'll try
to steal a couple of hours this week and see what I can
do with these setups.

                                                  Thanks

I assume you are using TC and ABS like me... no?
