I finally found the Indy Car track pack. I found it in a bundle called
Racing's greatest thrills. It also has Indy 1 and an F1 game plus Al
Unser's game and something else.
I've downloaded the conversion programs, but now I need to know do I
have to install all of Indy 1 and track pack, or can I just install INDY
to a directory and convert it? I've read about some problems with the
conversion, what are they and can someone tell me or point me to a web
page that can answer any problems I might have?
If anyone wants to know where I got the track pack E-mail me and I'll
tell you. I bought it online at a resellers site.

Thanks in advance,  Richard

Yeah, make a directory called 'indycar' with a 'tracks' and 'indy'
directory under that. Copy the Indy.dat file into that and specify the
path to the 'indycar' directory as you ICR1 path.

The FAQ on The Pits explains how to do it all properly.

Basically, the gripe at the moment seems to be the AI pitting. Rather
than following the correct path, they are exiting the pits at the
start of turn one.

Other problems seem to occur with colours but in most cases, people
have told me that running it again solves it.

If you've got the original unconverted track, you shouldn't have any
problems

Go on then...

Cheers

All you need to do is copy the indy.dat to your HD (ie. c:\icr\tracks\indy).

I also purchased this bundle base on the posting of Rbusch, but  no
Indy with mine, either. What gives? I could not get through to a live
human to check on this, had to order by faith......

You guys are so intent on getting Indy, that you hadn't taken the time
to READ what's in the original post...Of course, had I not already had
Indy, I would have rushed out to buy the disc also...

I bought this bundle just to get the official copy of the Indianapolis
track.  Alas, the version they sent me doesn't.  It has the ICR1 version

Licensing problems rear their ugly head (Read:  Tony George is a money
and power hungry moron!).  I was fortunate enough to have gotten a copy
with a friend back when it was for sale (back before ICR2 was out).  I've
since played it on N1 and ICR2 and can't say I really like it.  There is
no grip when enough wing is taken off to get a good amount of straight-away
speed.  Ends up being a giant frustration!!

Hi Greg,

So sorry...I didn't have the source, and it seemed all that replied had
snipped that part out (open mouth, insert foot...size 12 BTW).  =(

Best Regards,

Marc

There were two track packs for ICR1, one with Indy and one with all
the other tracks.  Sounds like you got the pack you paid for.  As for
Tony George, yea, I'm sure he wants more power over what is refered to
"Indy"car racing, but I doubt money is a motivation because the George
family is already *** rich.  I've never understood how he would
make any money by _not_ licensing the Indy track to Papyrus either...
