Revs for BBC

Geoff Crammond wrote aviator for the BBC and was a Spitfire simulation
using two colours (blue and white) and line vector graphics.   Revs was a
Formula 3 sim based at silverstone and was really nice.   Revs plus added
four extra tracks - Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton (i think)

I have a copy of REVS and am considering buying a secondhand BBC to play
it again :-)

The original Revs had Silverstone and Brands Hatch.  The update had
Donington Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton.  The Commodore 64 version
of Revs Plus also had the new Nurburgring as seen in the last couple
of years in real F1 GP racing.

Go for it.  Though a C64 may be easier to get hold of.  The BBC
having a slightly faster processor makes a slight difference but not
much.

I am in the process of developing a Revs Homepage, including maps and
a hall of fame, let me know if you have any thought/ideas etc.

Rich.

Andrew,

I though Acornsofts Aviator was based on a Hawker Hurricane, not a
spitfire, but I am not sure, I will check tonight, as I still have it next
to my trusty old Master 128Turbo !!

You are also incorrect in saying that the original revs had Silverstone and
Brands Hatch, it did in fact only had Silverstone (with the wicked old
Chicane Complex which was great fun in a ground effect F3 car of the time)

The add on pack , called Revs Four Tracks, had Brands Hatch, Donnigton
(Pre-GP circuit), Oulton Park, and Snetterton (including the bomb hole !!).

I think these games, along with Strikers Run (Superior Software were some
of the ground breaking stuff, in the pre-Elite times)

Thanks for bring back some fond memories.

Close, but the _original_ Revs on the BBC only had Silverstone. Brands
Hatch was part of the add on track pack.

Cheers,
Richard
