GP2 What can I expect?

To all those who have GP2

What type of frame rate and graphic's options can I expect to get out
of a
P166 with 24 meg ram and a 4 mb Matrox Mill. 3d video card?

I would guess in the mid twenties...22 to 24 frames.
I would recommend dumping the "sky" and cut a couple of
things out of the rear view mirror and you should be smokin'
along.
On my P6 200 I can run at 22-24 with full detail on.
If I kill the sky it jumps to max. The sky seems to be
a drag on frame. Play with the settings.
Keep in mind that GP2 on lowered detail is STILL, in my
view, much better than anything else you have seen in
this type of simulation. The "world" is the BEST of any
sim I've ever seen..the detail and graphic touches are
simply amazing and stunning, rich, deep color.
Monaco is a work of art, that track alone is in a class
by itself.
The other tracks are not as demanding and you should have
no problem.

BTW, the Matrox really produces rich color. On my P5 133 the
color is not nearly as deep or rich as it is on the P6 that
has the Matrox Mill 4 meg card. Stunning graphics.

I don't know acurately but I get 16 fps in SVGA with a P120 Diamond Stealth 64
and 32Mo EDO Ram. You should get at least 20 fps

(In SVGA of course!)

I too have a p166, 32 mb ram and a matrox...so here comes:

On SVGA ts very playable indeed! Tracks where r not that much
trackside objects or trees U can go with full textures and
details(exept sky) and U get over 20 fps.

But tracks like Monaco and others where is ALOT of trees, like
Hockenheim where U drive in the middle of forest U have to tune the
textures or details down if U want over 20 fps. With all settings on
the processor occupancy goes upto 120 % and it slows the game down
just a bit....but I like good frame rate more so I tune em down
abit...not much tuning needed luckily.

in general Ull love it...in my system it runs wery well indeed - much
better than my friends p90 with Diamond Stealth Vram.

Enjoy! :-)
