Anyone tried ICR2 95 under NT 4.0?

I just read that NT 4.0 supports DirectDraw, DirectSound, and DirectPlay. I
know that Ed Martin said that N wasn't an officially supported OS for ICR2,
but has anyone tried this combo?

==========
Yes; it died on startup with a GPF. I don't have a proper driver for my
SB16PnP in NT; this may have contributed, but I doubt that.

Yup.  Just tried it this morning.  It doesn't work, in either Windows mode or DOS mode.  Looks
like the paintkit might work, but while it's a nice feature, it's not why I play ICR2.  I'm
reeeeeally bummed (not that I expected it to work) because I just got a new P-166 w/32Mb at work.
Looks like I'll actually have to be productive with it instead!

On a related note, two interesting things happened during the install:  ICR2 noticed I did not
have DirectX, and tried to install it, and when it tried to test the speed of my CD-ROM, it got a
divide by zero error (I think) and really hosed my system (I had to reboot, which I don't have
to do much with NT).

I suppose I could whine about how now Sierra "owes" us an NT patch, since *I* am using *NT* and
*I* want to run *ICR2* and *I* am *THE CUSTOMER* and if they don't give me a patch then the whole
world needs to know that *I* *THE CUSTOMER* *AM GETTING SCREWED*!!!  But then I would be like
most of the whiners in this newsgroup.  I think I'll just play at home on my officially supported
platform and have fun with it.  It's a great sim.  :)

Bummer. I have a Pentium Pro, and was hoping it would work with NT so I
could dump Win95. Maybe i'll try the DOS version under OS/2...

[snip]

I'm suprised all the Amiga users haven't been up in arms that F1GP2 isn't
coming out on their platform. Why aren't they, as CUSTOMERS who bought
the previous game, demanding an upgrade? I mean, if someone wants it and
wants it NOW DAMMIT, they deserve it, right?

Well, did a representative of the company *tell you* you would get an
upgrade to NT when you bought the DOS version?  Fair is fair, but when
you try to promote sales by telling folks they'll get a free (or nominal
cost) upgrade to the Win95 version later if they buy the DOS version now
(November '95), then start waffling on that commitment 8 months later...
:(

Why not install DOS and NT on the machine, wouldn't that be easier?
Certainly quicker than waiting for an NT version.

The Sim Racing News site runs on an NT based server, but we also have
MS-DOS 6.22 and Win95 installed on the same machine - NT allows you to
pick whichever you want at boot up time. As far as I recall it was quite
easy to install it with those options.

Cheers!
John
