I had a similar problem with NFS on my Compaq. My sound card is an Ess
audiodrive and is soundblaster compatible but for some reason when I
switch from Win95 to dos to play NFS I have to type this command line
(note the following settings are for Soundblaster compatible card on
default settings: c:\set blaster= a220 i5 d0 t4    After I would type
that the game would recognize the existence of the card whereas before
it didn't even locate it on the auto- setup. Anyhow hope this works for
you, if not let me know I can try to come up with something else.
