Sounds like you are running the dedicated server. To host a race you just
run N4 and choose "Host Race" after entering multuplayer. If you are already
doing this then you are definetly using the wrong display driver. The "D3D
for Dedicated Server" setting is just that, just for dedicated servers, not
hosting a race in multiplayer, these are 2 different things. A dedicated
server is one that just sits out there on the net somewhere and you login
from your dialup as a racer and give it the "boss" password (that you setup)
and then administer the race remotely. You simply want to host a race that
you can race in from the local machine multiplayer screen. Setup your video
for either D3D or OpenGL and try it, it should work after you get the
program out of dedicated server mode. Check out n4server.txt in your N4
directory, this tells you how to run dedicated server so you know what NOT
to do to host races locally, lol.
