OT: Dark Screen

Hi all,
I was at my sisters house the other day and couldnt believe how dark
her monitor was. To view comfortably i could have had the brightness up to
max aswell as the contrast. I pluged my laptop into it just to check if it
was the onboard graphics in her PC, but even with my laptop the screen
lacked brightness.

Is this a sign that the screen is dying (From memory its an LG, but I might
be wrong)? Or would this problem be fixed with a quality graphics card? The
screen would wonly be 3 years old, so I didnt think it should be dying this
early in its life.

Thanks for your help

Well, if the monitor was dark with the laptop and the PC I would say the weak
link is the monitor.  It's either a knob or adjustment on the monitor or it may
have taken a hit from lightning or a surge.  I've seen monitors die that way...

My LG died in under 2 years.  Served me right eh?

Dark screen might just indicate a need for adjustment, or
maybe the screen has been used at maximum brightness
for most of it's life which will wear it out faster.
