(VROC) Posible hacker?

I don't know what else to use for a subject line..  I seen the thread
about VROC being no good and ect..ect..  I read a couple but that was about
it.  In any case, that same subject line is listed in the title bar for the
Chat text box in my (and many others) VROC application.  The one just above
the GPL chat room tab.

I wonder if he got in to some of our systems and placed that there?  and
what else he played with.

Just thought you might want to know,
Mike

Yep I had that too on saturday night. Restarting VROC got rid of it but
I'm concerned about how he managed to upload it to the VROC chat bar.

Pffft, some hacker.... he only "hacked" the topic for the IRC channel VROC
uses. Kiddy stuff, the sort of childish behavior a real hacker wouldn't
touch with a 10 foot pole. I'm pretty sure he hasn't got into the VROC
databases or any visitor's computer.

Any channel op can change the "subject line" (called topic in IRC) using the
/topic command. If I remember correctly an admin bot can be set to do so at
specific intervals, maybe something to look into for the people at VROC.

There is a tool called Lockdown. Trial version from the WWW
It recognizes and warns you if anybody tries to get access to your computer when
online.

Jens

BTW I had a few alarms when racing over VROC, but didn't understand what the
program tried to tell me.

There is no such thing as a "VROC chat bar" that someone
"managed to upload to" on your local machine as your posting
implies.

Actually it's possible to join the VROC chat with any IRC
client (xchat for Linux or mirc for Windoze) and participate.
No wouldn't it be fun to join your fellow racers for a chat
from work?

Please try to get informed before spreading FUD like this.

Bye for now,

Uwe

Hey Uwe - It wasn't FUD.  He was referring to the TOPIC BAR.  And someone did
hack it.  Thankfully it was corrected soon after this thread was initiated (about
a week ago).  Try to relax.  I know your a good guy.  So is Kev...
