Another questionable Ratbag decision (Leadfoot)

After the infamous fiasco of using Nascar Racing 1 edited engine sound for
Dirt Track Racing, they have now questionably used a well known third-party
engine sound from GPL for the small buggy engine sound in Leadfoot.  Oh
well.

You have to cut corners somewhere to sell a game for 20 bucks.
If they were going to take existing sounds for the buggies anyway, I
wish they would have swiped them from a game the has good 2 stroke
engine sound, like Motocross Madness 2.

I belive this is the third game from  Rat bag ,that as far as I can tell
is the
same as the other two,so that would make it $60 albeit in handy
installments.

I noticed that also as soon as I heard it.  I'd have to say, of all the
available engine sounds out there, talk about the least suitable one
possible...

The person that did the sounds for Leadfoot is a GPLer so maybe he produced
the original 3rd party GPL sound?

From a post on r.a.s called NASCAR engine sounds:

<sinp>

I have produced several sets of more realistic WC engines (and in-car sound
effects) for N4.  But, for the time being, I'm not distributing them
publicly......to anyone outside of the Pabst-Racing "Test Driver" group of
PR employee/subs.  I also created the engine sounds (under sub-contract
work) for Ratbag's recently released, Dirt Track Racing - Sprint
Cars.....and for the, about-to-be-released, Leadfoot Stadium Truck Racing
sim, also by Ratbag.  I tell you this not to impress you.......but only to
point out that I do have some experience producing racing sim engine
sounds.....and I would point out to you that this "process" is much less of
a "science" than it is an "art form."  There are several very talented
engine sound programmers/creators within the racing sim community.  I think
they would agree with this statement.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news........

It's hardly that expensive to buy a portable DAT or MiniDisc recorder (even
one with a built-in microphone should be adequate for this use) and find a
2-stroke engine somewhere.

Once captured, the sound could be tweaked, equalised, chorused or whatever
they do on an el-cheapo sound editing program (the old Cool Edit 96 demo
would probably even do).

Speaking of questionable Ratbag decisions, does anyone know if Leadfoot will
be released in South Africa? The Dirt Track games weren't. I've tried to
order from US stores, but there seems to be a clause prohibiting the sale of
Leadfoot to other countries.

If this is really the case, I'm off hunting for warez versions.
