[I'm reposting this as several people complained that it was "garbled" or bits
were "missing". I hope it isn't so long that the mail-to-news gateway eats some
of it. These rules are set to change slightly WRT AI grip.]

                    1995-1996 Little Formula Racing Series
                              World Championship
                                      Rules

The Little Formula Racing Series is a armchair driver fantasy league
involving drivers from around the world.  LFRS is oriented around
MicroProse's World Ciruit(a.k.a. F1GP).  Competitors use WC to run the
races, then submit times to be compared with other drivers.  Points are
awarded to each driver based on their performance, and at the end of the
season, the driver who has accumulated the most points will win the LFRS
World Championship.  The series is taylored to fit drivers of all different
backgrounds and interests.  The following are the rules for LFRS.  All the
information concerning the series should be found here.  If you have any
questions, please contact one of the directors.

 1-Directors
1.1-Questions or comments:  Send any questions or comments to
DE3...@aol.com or dgy...@gdcarc.co.uk.  Replys will be sent
                ASAP.
1.2-Results:  Send all results to LF...@aol.com by the specified
                deadline.
1.3-News Letter:  If you have questions or something to be published
in the newsletter(ie. race stories), send them to
                dgy...@gdcarc.co.uk.

 2-LFRS Home
2.1-AOL:  The home for LFRS on AOL is in the Simulation Auto board.
Any files can be downloaded from the Sim Auto Library.
2.2-WWW:  The WWW home page for LFRS is
                http://www.mal.com/~dgymer/lfrs/.
2.3-Inet:  LFRS will also be on rec.autos.simulators.  Files can be
                downloaded by FTP to didnt.doit.wisc.edu.

 3-Software
3.1-Simulation:  LFRS requires the competitors to use World Circuit
by Microprose.  No other sim will be used.
3.2-Other:  You must also have GPEditor v2.0(F1ED maybe used), CCPit,
and GPLap v5.0.  WCLaunch is recommended, but optional.

 4-Season
4.1-Dates:  Pre-season testing will begin on June 4th, 1995 at

                for times is midnight ET.
5.2-Why:  The reason for this testing is to show everyone where they
stand against the competition and to give a chance to those
who are a little behind some time to catch up for the
offical start of the season.  It's chance also for the
director to know if the AI BHP settings are too easy or

 9-Driver Info
9.1-When signing up please include:  a)REAL first and last name,
                b)Divisionl, c)Team name(preferably make-believe), d)Engine
name, e)whether you'll have a team mate or not, f)Country(If
outside US), g)email address, h)some info about yourself
so we'll know who we're competing against, an i)car and
                helmet colors.
9.2-Sign-up deadline:  Even though late comers are welcome, please
submit the above information by June 7, 1995 so a mailing
                list can be created.
9.3-Car Numbers:  To avoid the hassle over car numbers, after you
have submitted all of 8.1, you will be assigned a car
number.  Drivers who compete on two levels will have the
same number in both levels.  You will be offically entered
in the championship once you receive your number.
9.4-Teams:  Drivers are encouraged to form teams.  Teams may consist
of no more than two cars per level.

10-Championships
10.1-Drivers Title:  The Championship will be determined by points.
The IndyCar point system will be used(20,16,14,12,10,8,6,5,
4,3,2,1).  There will be one point for the fastest qualifier
(fastest practice lap for Beginner and Challenge divisions)
and one point for the fastest race lap.
10.2-Team Title:  The team title will be determined by points.  A
unqiue point system will be used(1st-30,2nd-27,3rd-25,
                4th-23,5th-22,6th-21...26th and lower-1).
10.2.1-Two-Car teams:  Two car teams will receive points
                        for both cars.
10.3-FastLap Title:  There will be a special FastLap title to the
driver who runs the fastest laps during the season.
10.3.1-How it works:  The fast qualifying/practice and race
laps for each driver at every track will be entered
into the FASTLAP Record Keeper written by Pedro
Sander (It can be found in the Simulation Auto
Library).  In this program, points are given to each
driver based on their lap time, the faster lap
getting more points.  The driver accumulating the
most points during the season will win the FastLap
title.  There will separate competitions for each
                        level.

11-Driving
11.1-Rules of the road:  "Wall braking", skipping chicanes or any
other turn in an effort to gain time is strictly illegal,
and warrants a 20 second penalty.  If, however, your are
FORCED to miss a turn(i.e. being hit by another car, braked
to late), no action will be taken.
11.2-Restarts:  Drivers may use 'Quick Race' mode to do any practice
starts or races.  Restarting your offical race is forbidden.
Due to the long length of the races, drivers will most
likely need to save their race.  Drivers may not reload
                their race after an accident.

12-Rule Changes:  These rules may, and will, change for the better of the
series.  All changes are effective immediately after being
        announced unless otherwise stated.

13-Most Importantly:  The most important thing for LF1 is that your have
fun.  This is just a friendly competition of drivers across the
world.  There is no prize for winning the championship, except
gradification and fun.  I hope everyone will be good sports and
        enjoy themselves.
