.. by the scum of the earth who bought all our Earnhardt mechandise today,
and then had the balls to brag about e-baying the stuff for a profit. We
shoulda just removed the stuff from the shelves, but the buzzards were
already at the door before we opened. It just made me sick to my stomach.
Not everyone was there to do the same thing, but ive heard countless similar
stories about the gouging. I was miserable enough today without those
contemptuous acts of greed. Nuff' said on that dirty subject.
I have had time to think about the future of Nascar after D.E., and i find
my thoughts turn more towards Petty Enterprises.
When Adam died, i wonder if the future of Petty Enterprised was comprimised
by the break in linearity of a typical family history. What i mean is, i
doubt Kyle will have another child. Who is to sit in the Petty throne after
Rich passes it to Kyle, and Kyle is ready to pass it on?  Dale Jr  and/or
Kerry will pick up where dad left off i imagine, and will have kids of their
own to keep the racing namesake.
My best wishes to Junebug (Waltrip cracked me up yesterday everytime he
called Jr that :) ), he will go through hell for a while i imagine, but i
still have my retirement planned around following him and HIS kid around to
races in a big ol' Madden style bus.
 Thanks for listening guys, GMpartsguy......

I agree with you about scum-sucking trash and maggots making a
profit off of a person's death....but one question in my mind is,why
did Nascar type stores even open?I saw on the news that some were
opening early...Now that is fking sick...seems like some merchants
had the same greedy fking idea...not saying that your business is
   one...but you're right it is sick...and I just can't get over it.I
was never a Nascar fan...nor watch it much...but I feel for those
Nascar fans that lost a legend...and of course his family. I think
if anyone had a heart...buy his stuff and sell it and donate it to
  his family...you know?

Most of the reputable stores around pulled all there Dale Earnhart items
off the shelf.  I know the specialty stores around where I live did so at
the request of DEI.

I did find it disgusting that someone is buying this stuff just to turn
around and try to make money off of someones death.

I really dont follow your logic on this one GM.  I think youre hurting over
our loss of DE, but people buying DE merchandise today is nothing more than
supply n demand, nothing more nothing less.  In a few short months we will
all be bombarded by "Official" DEI  memorabilia, books, video's etc etc and
most will be officially licensed.  I don't have a problem with this anymore
than I had with all of the Elvis ***that gets shoved down our throats.
But for you to bash a fan for buying a scale model or poster today is
absurd.

Amen, GMpartsguy.  Bigger JG fan than Intimidator fan but still always like the

Dale was his favorite NASCAR driver.

you *did* sell the merchandise, no?

i bet you wish you would have thought of that ebay thing yourself, huh?

that is, unless you were giving it away.

oh, i'm just sick of all these people profiting on old copies of life
magazine with JFK on the front, after all, he died a horrible death.

wake up now.

What he's talking about aren't fans, but people trying to make a profit off of
Dale's death. And all those people should burn in hell.

-reminds this poster that DEI holds all rights to Earnhardt's name, and without
it, no Earnhardt memorabilia can be sold-

You know, it just dawned on me.  Maybe this is why Nascar Online suspended
the sale of Earnhardt Merchandise.

If so, then I'm with them 100%.

That's not his point.

His point is that someone bought it all up, and is profiteering off of the
situation on EBAY.

That is sick and unacceptible in my book.

It takes the lowest scum of the earth to do that.

If that pisses anyone off, so be it.

I can see the stores being open because people WANT the merchandise.  The
stores don't have ANY control over what the people do *after* that.  I'm
wishing I had some Earnhardt memorabilia right now.  But that's because I was a
HUGE fan of his, and now he's gone.  I truthfully don't care if it was only
worth 10 cents to someone else.  It would be PRICELESS to me right now... :(

I may have been mis-understood in my statement. What people do with their
merchandise is purely their business. What pissed me off was the few bad
eggs that just had to mention that they planned on cranking up the price in
lieu of Dale's passing away.
Saying that we should have pulled the mechandise was stated purely out of
disgust. A poor opinion that i probably should have kept to myself. There
were far more fans than wolverines that came by.
My apologies if anyone thought i was bashing people for buying up Earnhardt
memorabilia. It had been a long day, and the pure gall of some folks just
stuck with me all day.
Thanks again for listening to me ramble on. Im gonna grab me a a big ol'
Budweiser (shameless #8 plug) and relax.. GMpartsguy...
P.S. Congrats to one of the nicest guys in Nascar, Mike Waltrip, on his
first win. He deserved that win, and just needed the right wood to burn with
:)..

I hear you Eldred, I have an Earnhardt T-shirt that I've worn twice on
special occasions, got it from a friend in the US a couple of years ago,
I'll be wearing it one more time when I go to the "Winston" in May, my
first Nascar race, after that I'll "retire" it.......

Beers and cheers

I couldn't agree with you more!

I had a friend who went to Rockingham and said that the DE trailer was
still selling the DE stuff at the normal prices, but the Die-Cast
collectibles trailer folks had bumped up the price on a DE die cast
from the normal price (about $30-40) to over $300-400!!  Talk about
gouging!   I imagine there were a lot of folks buying up DE stuff to
resell it for profit, but they aren't as sick (IMHO) as the ones who
raised the selling prices 10-fold to take advantage of it!

I have saved quite a lot of things, from calendars from the local
Chevy dealer to some matchbox cars and trinkets that my brother's
family gives me each year for Christmas, knowing I'm a fan.. My
sister, who is a die-hard Ford/Mark Martin fan, even bought me a DE
coffee mug this last year, and it's a treasured item here!

Keep your eyes peeled.. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up some things
without getting gouged, if you're careful!
