Hey all,

I downloaded the Rally Champ demo and got it to work, BUT... and this must
be a mistake, it's pretty much undriveable because all I get is on/off
steering.  I've looked everywhere in the game and there doesn't seem to be a
setting for that.  The game recognizes my TSW2, and I've even succeeded in
assigning left for right and vice versa, just to check if I was doing it
right, but it's just not analog steering.  Meaning I can't run a straight
line even if I do 20 mph.

What am I doing wrong?  I want to give this game a chance.

Regards,

-Laurens de Jong, The Netherlands.

You're not alone in this. I found the joystick/wheel support in both the RC
demos to be very flakey. Sometimes it seems to totally lose the settings
whereas other times the settings are as you say. Kinda hurts the purpose of
putting out a demo. Finally gave up on it. Hope the final release version is
better in its input readings.

It was old code. The controller code in the retail version is smooth and
analog.

That's good news, because even though I didn't like their previous efforts,
at least wheel support was well done (with my old T2, anyway). My question is
that I can't get split axis to work with my TMF1.  Any ideas?  It registers
my inputs on the config screen but doesn't want to know in-game.  I have no
problems with GPL, DTR etc.  Was this a beta bug or am I missing something.

Also - do you know if a full demo will be made available, as a previous
poster stated, the demos so far put me off rather than attract, and I want a
good rally sim.

Cheers,

Do you have Direct X 7 installed? This seemed to be the answer to people's
problems with joystick recognition in the demos.

I never asked them so I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure that one
will be made. You will probably have heard enough reviews of the full game
by people who's opinions you respect to make up your mind about purchasing
it before a new demo comes out. It's being released on the 19th.

I do and it didn't help, but I'll go throught the recalibration hoops and
give it another try .

Having been burned in the past (you can't normally take games back just
because you don't like them in the UK) I very rarely buy without a
representative demo or loan from a friend.  Only Papy get my money no
questions asked...:-)

That's not a problem as long as you buy it from EB. 10 day money back
guarantee, no quibbles... I just wish there were more places like that over
here.
