Cross-Breeding for PC Wheels?

Cross-Breeding for PC Wheels?

by Ephex » Sat, 03 Jul 2004 14:38:24

Hi!  I have a Logi Formula Force GP, and an M$ Sidewinder (non-FF)
wheel.  I have both hooked up to my PC, and I use the Logi for steering
and the M$ for throttle/brake.  Is there any way I can mod these so I
can hook the M$ pedals directly to the Logi wheel?

Thanks,
Ephexx

There should definately be a way, since both simply have 2 potentiometers in
it. Which means the connector is probably what.. 3 pins?

All you have to do is find out the pin-out for each set of pedals and then
do the switcheroo. I dont' know what the connectors or anything for either
of those pedals look like since I don't own them though..

You can usually accomplish the same thing by connecting both (assuming
they're both USB devices), recognizing both, and using both (the same way
you can use both a joystick and a HOTAS in a flite sim).  Of course, you
don't want to bump the Logi pedals or the MS wheel while you're driving....

Are you sure?
The MS pedals have optical sensors which I thought worked differently.

Shikes.. I didn't even think about optical sensors. My bad.. If it does use
opticals, then s***everything i said..

Only the wheel is optical, the pedals use regular analogue pots.

I guess the good thing too, about plugging both in is that you can put the
other pedals right beside your existing ones... then you can use one of it's
pedals as a clutch!! I've done it before, it works great..

Fair engouh, I always just assumed, not least because after four years of
thorough abuse, there's still no sign of them spiking yet.

as you were, gents :-)

I've tried that before, but that didn't really help at all. I guess I'm
too used to left foot braking.
