N4 Track Editor?

N4 Track Editor?

I know this is probably a pipe dream, but my biggest
wish for N4 is a track editor.  But apparently it isn't
going to happen. :-(

For that matter, has there EVER been any sort of
track editor in any previous racing sim?  If not why
not?  I mean we have course editors for golf games...

SODA had a pretty awesome track editor!  I thoroughly enjoyed making tracks,
as well as running tracks that others had uploaded. :-)

I doubt if you will ever see a track editor for Nascar, though.

Soda Off Road Racing had a pretty good track editor.  and folks have
said the track editor in CART Precision Racing was the single best
feature of the game.
Papyrus has never used an off the shelf product for it's tracks so
only a very few have figured out the skills necessary for building
tracks.  There are some, especially for GPL, but not many.

yeah... the CPR editor was ***in.  I've made some pretty sweet tracks
for that game.  It's really the only reason it's still on my hard drive.

There may be reason to worry about N4. The Daytona tracks
that came with the CD in the Daytona program are encrypted and can't be used
with N3 or NL. What will happen if all
the tracks in N4 are encrypted the same way and can't be
modified or converted to othe rPapyrus games?

to be a dialup modem with email all of the sudden.

Daytona encrypted?  Perhaps you can't just drop it in you
sim, but I have a Daytona for N3, and NL AND N99.  Don't worry,
I'm pretty sure folks like Dave Noonan will figure out how to get
gpl and n4 tracks compatible.

yeah...thats because everybody has the non-encrypted version which somehow
leaked from papyrus. N4 tracks WILL be encoeded.

I agree Fran?ois.  The only reason that Papyrus encrypted Daytona for N3 is so
that the guys at Daytona Speedway would be happy that we couldn't use the track
in the full version of N3 or in any other game.  Papyrus won't encrypt tracks
in N4 I think.
