Any truth to this rumour?

From: http://www.racesimcentral.net/

11/14 Empire's Racing Game Canned

Empire Interactive has dropped West Racings World Sports Cars after
repeatedly "hinting" to them to tone down the "sim" aspects of the game
in order to make it more "arcade-like" in order to suit the mainstream
market.  Subsequent builds showed no improvement, and as such Empire
canceled development.

I hope not!!!! I was looking forward to WSC:(

For Empire's sake, I sure hope it's untrue.  There will be a definite
boycott of anything under their banner should that be the case!  >:-(

I would prefer no WSC instead of a toned down WSC.

Sounds to me like we have someone out there who is bored, first rumours of
GPL2 and then this. What other rumours could we start by sending a mail to
www.fatbabies.com?

Last news I heard about WSC was about a month ago from a guy off the ringers
list.
He is the co-pilot of the guy who runs scoobynet (I think) who is helping
the West brothers with the physics. Because of this there is a scoobynet
subaru in the game and he sent me a screenshot (as he knew I was interested
in sim racing and it had his name on the side of thew car being the copilot)
At the time he seemed to think that empire were no longer going to publish
the PC version (although it would still come out) but would publish a PS2
version.
How true that is I do not know...
I'll mail him to see if he has any updates.

That doesn't mean that the game won't be out, now does it. :) Just
forget about that PS2 version to judge things.

MP heeft geschreven in bericht ...

I think it's a bs rumour.
The West's always intended to make a sim for the
*** simlovers.
That's why Chris asked a lot of questions what
the true simlovers thought should be included if
possible.
They made it very clear from the beginning that it
should be of the mold of GPL and better.
They would however include a way to make the learning
curve less steep.
Their intention was to make it a special sim and
not one out of a dozen game.

I believe they made a deal with Empire to handover
the sourcecode to other developers to port it to the
Microsoft Gamebox or whatever it's called.
That version might be more arcadelike but that's none
of the West's work.

I still believe we will see the WSC-sim someday
wether it's published by Empire or someone else.

   Who Knows?

I do believe it's time for the West brothers, or someone
from Empire, to give us a heads up as to what's going on.

I understand that they can't get much done if they are
going to spend hours every day answering our questions, but
a "This is what we're working on" message every 6 months
should be something they can budget in their schedule.

I won't abandon hope, but I have log ago abandoned any
expectations.  We'll drive it someday, or not.

What does it matter anyways...

I'd rather see them go with another publisher and give us the ***
stuff..than tone down and get a quick release with yet another ***
physics engine...there's shit loads of crappy driving sims out there
already.
If one publisher doesn't wanna publish it...another one will..screw
empire..
If this is true then i applaude the west brothers for standing their
ground.

This rumour is 100% accurate.  Both West brothers have dropped development
of WSC and are now working with Papy on GPL2.

Oops, I forgot to mention that they will be doing a future radio show with
some really cool sound samples from GPL2.  Unfortunately they won't comment
on a release date or a finalized set of features.  Rest assured though that
this game will be the best sim ever!   I for one can not wait for Christmas
2006!

I hope this isn't true, of course, but my concern is that it (WSC) was being
touted around a LONG time ago - by the time it comes out, will the game
software itself be outdated? r, is it the case that they're making gameplay
improvements, too, as time goes by?

Ahhh how quickly we forget.  This was the same website that said that Dave
Kaemmer had left Papy after becoming frustrated with the management.  Now
he's hard at work on GPL2.
