Is my V2 dead?

by Bj?rn Nyhlé » Fri, 09 Jul 1999 04:00:00

My Voodoo2 seemes to be non functioning. I was enjoying a quick spin at
Rouen when the graphics suddenly froze (I could still hear the car running
and i heard that I could use ESC to get to the pit screen). After that the
V2 didn' t work in any games, everything just locks up when it kicks in.
I've tried everything i can think of from installing different drivers to
pulling the card fron the computer and reinstalling it.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

It's not dead, just resting. Now go to sleep.

It (sort of) happened to me too. My computer crashed when I started any game
using the Voodoo2. What I did to fix it was physically removing it (and the
drivers) from the computer, and then reinstalling everything again *in
another PCI slot*. So - have you tried reinstalling it to another PCI slot?
I hope this helps!

Same here: Shortly after installing the gpl patch to v1.1 my voodoo2
went dead. Dead as a doornail, not even the properties screen would
come up. I removed the voodooII from the hw manager, re-installed
the drivers, still nothing. Then, as a last resort, I clocked down
the celeron from 450 to 400 (400 being its spec speed) and then tried
the properties again, great, everythings fine. Tried MGPRS2, fine also,
but GPL would still lock up.

Re-installing gpl 1.0 and then patching it did the trick, and I am
very happy to not have to go out and buy a new V2.

hope this helps (Where's my GPL Linux port?!?! Come on papy! ;-)
