Impossible to get performance out of that terrible card.

I had one of those cards and i reckon i got reasonable performance (which is
nowhere near good enough) with the 29.xx drivers. however, that was 6 months
ago as i upgraded to a GF4 Ti and i recommend you do the same - the card is
very reasonably priced and the performance boost is worth it.

I have one in my ***non-*** system, and the least offensive drivers I've found for this card
are the 30.82's.  They test the best, but that aint saying much for this poor  game performer.

I've found for this card
poor  game performer.

Just had a system crash and had to rebuild :-(  Anyway, I had noticed a
reduction in game performance
beforehand but was not sure why.  After the rebuild I updated my video
drivers and down went video
performance.  I had been trying reducing video settings and was down to
800X600 16 bit.  No real
boost in frame rate which was as low as 12 and high was around 19.
Was reading this thread and loaded up the 3.8.2 drivers or close to that,
did not notice too much difference.
reconfigured graphics to opengl and left the video settings, now my frame
rate is up to about 45 on avg with
lows into the 20's with heavy traffic.  So now I am adding in some of the
nicer features like sun glare till I get
down to an avg. of 30 fps.  That is my minimum for feeling smooth at all in
the game.

Any ideas why opengl is so much better in this game with these drivers?  I
had not noticed any real performance
difference before.
