N2 doesn't run now!

by The Pennington' » Tue, 22 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Trying to run my N2 game and after the Papyrus intro screen, it goes blank and returns to the Win95 desktop.  Had a similar problem not too long ago but it was sound card related.  It doesn't appear to be sound related since I can go to the sound setup and test my settings with good results.  I have tried re-installing and that didn't help.  When I tried running from the DOS prompt, I got the following error:

Unable to start screen.  Possibly out of memory, or disk read error.

I have a 266 PII with 64M DRAM...couldn't be out of memory.  I did a full disk scan and everything was fine.
Advice? Similar problems? Thanks in advance.

Sounds to   me like you have to many tracks in your track folder. I believe
it's 32 max in nascar2 and 64 in Bgn pack or nr1999. Check there first.

Thanks for all the responses...got it to work by manually deleting the
NASCAR2 folder from the Sierra directory after performing an uninstall.
Then reinstall the game with good results.  Sounds too simple I know, but I
had initially assumed that the uninstall deleted the NASCAR2 folder.
