Sounds to me your problem is weather related. The fact you go
faster on the front straight as opposed to the back straight suggest you
have a fairly strong wind blowing against you on the back straight and
with you on the front. Check the weather option in the realism menu.
Wind brings up an interesting Gearing challange. If you use a
tall gear to take advantage of the tailwind, you'll gain several MORE
miles per hour on the front straight. However your back straight speed
will really suffer. If you use a shorter gear to Muscle through the
headwind on the backstraight, you'll risk over-revving on the front and
blowing an engine. I guess in the face of a strong wind it might be
better to use 5th gear on the back and sixth on the front. Good luck!
