Well I was wondering what would be everyones dream Auto Simulator?. This
could mean anything from F1 to just a car you own sim !!
Also to what level would you draw the line on the word Sim..?
Thanks for any advice or info !

I like sportscar racing. So having the ability to share a car world
wide with 3 other online drivers would be a big feature. (of course real
time night lighting, weather and huge fields go without saying)
I like Champcars, so having the ability to have a push to pass button
for the turbo would be cool.
I like F1 so having a feature that forces you to play online with only
yourself is not a good idea. Get Bernie out of F1 sims.
I like Hemi's. So a classic 1970 Trans Am sim is neato.
I like Super Touring Cars. 2 litres of attitude and FWD to whip you
back to the racing line.
I like Bathurst, Le Mans, Road America. Tracks baby Tracks.
Did I mention Can AM?
An Auto Sim vs a racing sim? no contest...must be a racer.
A classic 'sim' begins to lose it's focus when career movies and
outside fluff gets in the way. STill a classic sim can be a dry barren
place so to grab the attention of new users, you may need something extra.

(notice I chose themes and features not intricate complex code which is way
to intricate and complex for me to understand)
1967/1984/1992 champ cars
1976-1982 F1 (with a preference for 78)
1980-1986 NASCAR
trans am (any era)
any sort of sportscars from 1967-1972ish
type b rally cars
Really, my dream sim is less defined by what I'm racing and more
defined by the quality of the physics/graphics/multiplayer/interface.
I'd toodle around at 80mph in formula fords in a Papy-quality sim.
Hey
I would like a game were you could design your own car within a given
ruleset. It should also be possible to design car parts, so one could
be proud that the God of SimRacing, Whose Name Shall Not Be Given,
since it's Greger Huttu, did that new Monza WR on MY tyres.
Most of the parts of an engine/gearbox/suspension/whatever should be
changeble, choosing between reliability and speed. Then it should be
possible to form teams (a bit like the old MoG form known from GPL)
and race online.
There're only 2 simtypes...the ones I like, and the ones I don't
like....
Cheers!

for those who need driving aids, I suspect that the motorcity online mode
would be the best, you know where you hang out a virtual drive thru's or
shit like that? Ha!

Fillyourboots
Papy's netcode plus a few tweaks: a few user-friendly server options
and the ability to change brake balance in fixed setup races
F1C's moddability
GTR's graphics and sound
Jury still out on physics model
Sim = state of the art in the following -
net code
physics engine
race results and stats
plus very good -
sound
graphics
weather (?optional?)
The most important thing is that it must not have any smell of alpha or
beta code for it to be considered as worthy software whether it be arcade or
sim like! It must be good software above all that simply works as it should
with NO bugs!
The Dream - to have a headset that gives 3D sound and 3D graphics (via
goggle monitors) for absolute, tron like, immersion. :)
