N4 -- Which Version?

by Markus Stiepe » Mon, 07 May 2001 21:18:02

Just a simple question:
I am in Germany, and bought N4 at a local store. On the package it says
"English Version, german Manual".
Now which version do I have? The "international" or the "US-Version" ?
Depending on that, I would need to install the appropriate Patch...
My NASCAR Racing 4.exe on the CD has Version # 1.0.1.1, language-value while
checking properties is labeled "English(USA)")

thx for the help

To say the truth, I personally am not sure.  But if you go into the game,
and don't see no car manufactures, but instead a generic manufacture, then
you need the international edition.  If you do see car manufactures (ie.
ford, chev, pont, dodge) then download the us edition.

Well thats odd.  Here is the key, I hope, that will tell
you which version you have.   Are there a large # of current Winston Cup
drivers listed?  Not on the box but in the opponent manager.  Do you have
cars for Tony Stewart/#20-orange with Rigid sponsorship?  Or Rusty
Wallace/#2-darkblue with no Miller Beer but Rusty Time sponsorship?   If you
have those and other real cars, the Beer sponsors are not in the US version
either) then you do have the us..if ALL the drivers are fictional, then you
have the UK version.   Check the cars again.  Do they say Dodge, Ford, Chevy
or Pontiac?  Thats the US version.  If they say Chassis 1, Chassis two etc
then you have the UK version.
Either way, the 4.0.1.1 is not the patched version you will still need the
proper patch to get your program up to version 4.1.1.0

The third number in the version string indicates whether it is the US (0) or
International (1) version of the game.  You have x.x.1.x, which is the
International version.

That's not true.  While some drivers from the US version are missing due to
licensing restrictions, the International version does include a number of
real Winston cup drivers.

Thanks for that info Eric.  From the posts I've seen here in RAS, they
sounded like NO drivers were included.
okayyyyy....look for the manufacturer logos :)

Yeah, Home Depot, Dupont, Singular, McDonalds are not there in the Euro
version.  Euro version does have Cheerios, Tide, Kodak, Vavoline, Texaco,
Kmart, UPS, Dale Jr., GM Goodrench, and Rusty Time to name a few.  (This
isn't a complete listing...just off the top of my head.)
