3D games? Now you can find out, because Gamecenter has teamed up with
MadOnion.com (formerly known as Futuremark Corporation) for the demo
premiere of the benchmarking utility 3DMark2000.
MadOnion.com developed the popular 3DMark series to evaluate 3D
performance. This latest installment introduces a number of
significant improvements, including support for DirectX 7.0 and
hardware transform and lighting, which is used in advancing
processing chips, such as Nvidia's GeForce 256. Other new features
include tests for level-of-detail scalability; full support for
Windows 2000; and advanced tests for bump mapping, texture-rendering
speed, fill rate, and image quality."
"With your system's benchmarks in hand, you'll be able to tweak your
machine's performance to make sure that you're getting the most out of
your hardware. So go ahead and download the 3DMark2000 demo, and start
testing. System requirements for the demo are a 166-MHz Pentium
with MMX; 64MB of RAM; Windows 95, 98, or 2000; DirectX 7.0; and a
DirectX 7.0-compatible 3d card."
