GPL Setup Tool...

Guys,

Dane Johnson has a very neat tool for Nascar Racing called NRHQ. You can
download it from http://www.racesimcentral.net/~danej/

The software allows you to :check lap times, view replays, and chart them,
and my favorite "tweak setups". It takes suggestions from you the driver
such as "loose entering corners", "pushing in middle of turn", etc. and
gives you choices of what could be wrong with the selected setup. You then
go and apply the change and the software even writes a new setup with that
singular change in it.

You can then go out and try it and if it still needs something else you can
continue on this way until it feels right.

My question is, "how many people here would be interested in a version of
this for GPL?"

I raise my hand in class for this.!! It worked OK for me in N2, why not
GPL?

I'd pay $25 American dollars for this.

Yes please! I'll never have the time to learn manual setups, but I'd
love to be able to tweak the cars.

Should be a default feature for any upcoming serious sims; while
Novice in GPL has a very relative meaning, a setup Assistant would be
great for a lot of people, especially since really being to set up a
car means a lot of reading and experimentation for a lot of users, and
this way it would be much more intuitive.

I agree. That would be a great way for a "die hard sim" like GPL to
counter the criticism of being too inaccessible for newbies, without
having to resort to arcade modes and such.

My thoughts exactly. I would think Papy might be interested in such a
project as well! <G>
