I talked to a papy guy in the chat lobby once and asked him about a race
filter and he was convinced it wasnt necessary. "Just order the list and
pick the one you want" he said.

pissed me off too

I guess it's not such a dissapointment because I knew before hand they
weren't going to provide it, but not having a save game is retarded.  I
rarely play online, preferring long races, and the simulation of a season vs
the slash and dash of online play, not to mention the twits who want to run
around the track backwards and wreckers etc...  Pretty much impossible for
me to run full length races in a season which really torks me off.  I have
heard the arguments.  It makes zero sense to me.

w.r.t. that, and a save game - Papy have ignored the voice of (at least
some) fans. Grr

STill - best damn sim out there by an order of magnitude.

I have to agree. I would love to be able to filter out the SS tracks or even
the tracks with less than 5 people in them..........

Which serious sims do have a save game feature that can be implemented in the middle of a race or
session?

Throw in NR1999, the Craftsman Truck pack and Nascar Legends in for good
measure. Serious sims in nature, but technically obsolete September 1998.

Agreed, it would be nice to just see non-password protected servers with
whatever type of race I am looking for with a certain amount of people.

Like I said, heard the arguments.  Had the first 3 or 4 Papy Nascar sims or
add-ons not had it, it might be a little easier to digest.  There's realism
and then there's reality.  If you have 3+ hours a night, *** any night, to
sit in front of your monitor then bonz to ya.  I do not.  A save game does
absolutely ***in nothin to diminish the integrity of a game, simulator or
arcade type.

I still wonder about the technical difficulty of enabling a save game
feature.  Nascar Heat is a 6df sim like N4/N2k2/N2k3 and it has no save.
Thunder, no save.  GPL, no save.  The sims that HAD a save game feature
were previous generation products.
I wonder if there is an overiding technical challenge like file size or
performance problems that precludes a save game feature.

I wanted this as well because I'm in the same boat.  Basically, they wanted
to put it in as well.  It became an issue of time and man hours to put it in
the current engine.  As you know, we have not had the save game since the
move of the N# series over to the GPL engine.  I am not a programmer, but
putting the save game feature in must be much harder than what we think.

Well if that's your biggest disappointment, it can't be that big ;-)
