I don't think so. Only the new "GP" version will do the job.

Nope... it will not work Thomas - I tried it with my LWFF USB and it didn't
even recognize that there was another controller hooked up to it.  Picked up
a LWFF GP used, and it did work with the PS2, at least with Gran Turismo 3.
It's nowhere near the wheel the older LWFF is, however :-(

No.  That is due to the fact that the LWFF was cable-driven whereas the
newer one is gear-driven.  It would require different drivers.

Galley,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the LWFF *GT* (the one that's marketed
with GT3) cable or 'belt' driven?  Someone pointed this out to me in another
thread on this newsgroup.  In his mind, it justified the additional cost of
the LWFF GT.

The old LWFF was cable driven <RIP>
The newer LWFF-GP is gear driven.
Haven't looked into one of this PS-blue rim wheels yet, but to me it looks like
gear-driven too.

Yes, the Force GT wheel is gear driven.

Still, I hate to let my "old" LWFF cable driven "masterpice"
out of the loop. Surely somehow it must be possible to use it?
Without force feedback then?

Im borrowing a ps2 with GT3 to have some fun, and I hoped
to be able to use my lovely wheel :( saaad indeed.

I tried using my Logitech Wingman formula non force yellow grips with
no luck :(  The power and select lights would turn on but the configuration
screen would not recognize it. Oh well I'm getting pretty good with the
game pad anyway, hehe
