Help - Car setup for ICR2 - Detroit

by Sys Admi » Sat, 11 Jul 1998 04:00:00

I'm having a hard time getting any heat into the front left tyre at
Detroit.
In general the car understeers a little when making the fast left hand
turns.
The problem is the right handers.  I have understeer on some turns and
oversteer on others.

The right hand tyres are okay, temps are about 200-220, the front a little
bit hotter than the rear.  The lefts have a 60-80 degree difference with
the rear between 220-240 and the front 150-160.

What can I do get the car more balanced for the majority of the right hand
corners?  Do I need to change how I'm driving, or can I make changes to the
car that will help?  Everything I've tried has not helped or made the
handling worse. (lower tyre pressure, stiffer shock, softer shock etc).

I guess my times aren't that great, 1:15.9 is my fastest lap, and I'll
consistently run under 1:18 once the tyres come up to temp (well three of
them at least).  I race at 98% arcade damage 40% race length and either win
or DNF almost every time.  I want to win more and DNF less so I need a
better handling car so that I don't have to push as hard.

Thanks
Alan

Attached is a setup good for easy 1.09s or 1.08s (on low fuel as a qualifying setup)
if you put in the laps. Let me know if it helps.
