I will now stop to flame Mr. Noonan [long]

Hi!

I'm an avid SimRacer and I've now taken my "job" very seriously, by
being one of the 3 leader of rec.autos.simulators, with over 50
posts/week.  In the past week, something very important happened to our
racing communauty.  Dave Noonan, a normal SimRacer like many of us, made
a Indycar2 to Nascar2 converter.  There's a demo version available witch
can be downloaded from his website.  It has little AI flaws, but
all-around it's a good third-party converter.  The only thing is that we
have to pay 20 pound (+/- 35$ US) to have the real version (the demo
only make 3 conversion).  I do remember that when I was a rookie in
r.a.s. and SimRacing, a person named Gerhard Lingenberg made some
converters.  He made possible the conversion of track from Nascar1 to
Icr2, Icr2 to Nascar 1, Indianapolis to Brickyard and Indianapolis to
Icr2.  All this for free, for our SimRacing communauty.  The program was
without any major AI flaws and bugs, and a great utility for us the
SimRacers on the Internet.  He spended many hours ( and days!) on this
project and we all thank him for it.  He is considered, with Tony Johns
and others, as the original persons who made the SimRacing communauty
like we look at it today.  Free cars, setups, utilities, tracks, sounds,
graphics, etc.  For anybody.  Free.  And a person now named Dave Noonan
wants to change this.  He has the trght to do it, and I approove this.
I know that with this program he will probably open doors to other
SimRacer programmers.  I approove this also.  I know also that
pratically nothing is free to day on the real world, like also on the
Internet.  We, the SimRacing Communauty, are a little place on the
Internet and it took more than a year to have finally a real place on
the net.  But before the converter our communauty was somthing special,
because everything was free.  If you wanted cars, you could go and get
it.  And plenty of people who thought that that was the right way of
doing, spend many hours doing setups, cars and utilities, just to make
live our communauty.  BTW, dont compare charging $$ for the Papyrus
track pack and the converter.  It will be new tracks and add-ons on the
track pack, not actual Icr2 tracks.  The point I want to go finally is
that Dave didnt do a wrong thing doing the converter, but it will
probably open doors to other person who will start selling all kind of
utilities and after it will be a mess in SimRacing.  AFAIK, I dont
remember someone charging 35$ for an utility.

I respect Mr. Noonan and Im sorry for flaming him and saying that he
sucks.  I was angry about the fact of spending money on it and didnt
think about was I was writing.  This happens ofthen to me (remember the
Indy track saga??).  I thought of it all the day and finally, after a
long period of calm.  I think now that we dont have to boycott the
converter.  We dont.  You will all probably say "My God, he changed his
mind so rapidly" Yes.  I will even probably buy the converter, but I
will never approove the fact of buying it.  I also am sorry for all the
other SimRacers that, in my angry hour yestearday, started to flame and
say bad words to them (oops!).  I hope he will have great success on
it.  I WILL stop all my anti-converter post and talk to other of my
supporters to stop also (if I have some!).  I made a mistake for flaming
Mr. Noonan.  I just hope that all SimRacers will apologize me for my
misconduct, like they did for the Indytrack.  People will probably lose
respect on me, task that I always wanted to reach the highest possible.
I will now restart all-over and gain respect ofther r.a.s.ers in the
next months.  So all I have to say is: DONT BOYCOTT THE CONVERTER!!
Please accept my mistakes and also, after reading all the replies to my
posts, I felt shame about what I wrote.  Im terribly sorry for
offending anybody.  I will stop sending flaming E-mails.  BTW, it wasnt
me who sended the demo on a crack newsgroup.  I will continue to send
the Indy track for Icr2 freem with great pleasure.  I hope we will stop
this thread and start to enjoy those new tracks and practice on them.
Im also sorry for all those grammar faults, Im French speaking.

Shame on me,

Good race at the Brickyard,  (-o-)

OK, so he's given you somthing already for free, for nothing. Sounds
pretty sweet.

Utter nonsense. He doesn't want to change anything. Just be paid an
honest dollar for a day's work like anybody else. This changes nothing
about Gerhard's or any other converter or freeware.

What the HELL is the point of aplogizing for flaming somebody,
claiming you felt shame about it, and then FLAMING HIM AGAIN IN THE
SAME GOD DAMN POST? Hello!!? Hello McFly!!!!? Anyone home???

Francois,

I've no problem at all with you stating your opinion, whether you think
Dave is right or wrong you should still feel at liberty to say that and
describe why. What people took exception to (I believe) was the _way_ in
which you said that.

Anyway, there's precious few people can stand up to admit they made a
mistake and apologise, so you've gained a measure of my respect from that
alone! :)

You are entitaled to your opinion thats what democracy is all
about..:-)
We all can get hot under the collar and some times say things we all
regret later on. You have made a big impact with your appology which
in my eyes earns my respect to you. I have views on this episode and
there is know real right or wrong way to do what should be done or not
done. I cant even code a .bat file..:-)  well I can but just an
example. I cant write a program so I have to rely on some one who does
it for me. I have a bit of a knack at painting cars but thats about
it. If I could write such a program I would make it free to all BUT
its easy to say things like that when you know you cant. Anyway keep
up your post some can be entertaining at the least...:-)

Time to Grow up !

Mr Noonan has done many of us a favor.  Ok, so we have to fork out a few
bucks.  Big deal.  Do you complain when you turn on the cable so you can
watch the Nascar races week in and week out.

He provided a legitimate service to all of us.  He simply asked for
something in return.

It's called capitalism.  Now the last time I checked, most of the free
world still had capitalist economies !  Now I really don't think that
this many people support socialism.

It is time we grow up.  Gerhard provided a great service to all of us
for a long time.  Maybe he left because of all the g-damn whiners that
are ruining RAS.  Someone gives us something and all we can do is
complain and want more.  This is real bullshit!

This is just my 2 cents.  Take it for what you think it is worth.  But I
wonder, how many good people your whining has scared away (Gerhard
included).  Do you really want to do this to Mr. Noonan as well?

Oops wrong answer John.  Excuse me.  I've just touched the SEND button

a lot for being OK with me.  That's how my original post was to finish.
I just clicked on the SEND button by mistake.  Oops,

Why insulting me??? I've never would flame you.  You've seem Ok but now
I don't know why you're so angry about me.  First of all, my first
language is French.  I live in Montreal and I have some difficulties
writting in english.  That's why people sometime misunderstands me.  I
just wanted to say, in my original post, that I was sorry for telling
bad things to Mr. Noonan. I've also said that I will stop boycotting the
converter, and even planned to buy it.  So I don't know why continuing
to flame me.  My philosophy is to make people HAPPY!HAPPY! and that
doesn't concordes with what I did to Mr.Noonan.  I was angry this night
when I flamed :( Mr.Noonan.  He knows this and he probably apologize me
(if your reading Dave please reply to this post). I don't flame Mr.
Noonan in my post, I just tell that I don't agree with charging 45$CAN
for the converter.  I've sended the Indy track for Icr2 free to more
than 250 SimRacers and i'm very proud of it.  later people will
recognize me for doing this act. Finally I just wanted to know why Eric
T. Busch, a person who always was good to me, now putted me in his Kill
file? Can you, Mr. Busch, explain more about this.  I hope we can debate
seriously,

Good race at the Brickyard,  (-o-)

OK, sorry, I think I mis-read your last post then.
