Nascar 4

Is the British /European version different from the US release

Yes, Papy rip the Brits/Euros off with a lesser product. Not all the cars,
not all the paintshop. It is 'only' 20, but I would have paid the average
34 for the full product. Good racing with the Patch, but very disappointed.

disappointed.

Is there any way to update it to the proper version ? Also, what is left off
the paint shop feature ?

I have no idea if its possible to update. People say that the missing cars
are about on the net, but I haven't seen them yet. The Euro paintshop only
deals with one generic car, while the US version has Dodge, Chevy, Ford, and
Pontiac. I don't think the N4 'Lite' version helps at all in getting
immersed in the sim. I like my cars to be accurate, and drivers to have
authentic names and ratings. It does actually say on the box 'Exclusive!
2001Teams and Sponsors'. I think not.

Thanks for that.

This is a pretty poor state of affairs. Why would they want to ship a
quality title to another country(s) with important features missing ? I
thought Sierra were better than that.
I passed up on N4(Lite) today because of this, and opted for F1RC instead. I
will wait for a good online bargain from the 'States before I get N4 now.
**Sierra, don't try to rip-off your foreign customers. We do have a modicum
of intelligence, you know !**

"It does actually say on the box 'Exclusive!  2001Teams and Sponsors'. I

If this is actually stated on the box and it is not true ,then im sure  its
an infringement of the sale of goods act. Therefore I expect poor disgruntled
purchasers are entitled to a refund or try to send the product back to
sierra stating this gross misrepresentation.

It's a matter of licensing.  Remember that, at first, N4 was not even
going to make it to England.  The
original shipping plan was the US and Germany ONLY.  UK and Oz were added
later.  Rather than go back and begin a whole new round of licensing
negotioations, they just released the game minus the logos etc.  Don't feel
bad...they did the same thing back here in the States when they released
N99.
There should be a whole plethora of cars and such that you can import to
the game that will bring the
2001 paintjobs and drivers up to snuff.  I haven't done any real
investigation, but I'm assuming that cars
that work in N4(usa) will work just fine in the UK and Aussie versions.

I'm in the USA and I have the European version (with the Cheerios car on the
front) and I can confirm that imported cars work just fine and feature the
different makes also. (Dodge/Chevy/Ford/etc.)

I picked up the euro version for USD $20 and have no regrets.  I'd rather
pay $20 and download the cars then pay $35 with the cars.  (OK, you can call
me a Miser!)

Thanks. I have checked them for the missing cars, Tony Stewart etc, but so
far no luck unless I missed them/him. It seems to me that the rate at which
the kind souls who updated N2, N3, NL has slowed with N4? Plenty of fantasy
cars abound for online use, but the  accurate simulation  aspect has taken a
back seat?

Here is another site for cars...I didn't see Stewart, they focus'd mainly
on getting the missing cars for the US version out. But you might find more
here.
