Fake signs at Indy?

Fake signs at Indy?

Did anyone else notice the sign in between t3 and t4?  It was sticking
through the fencing with a arched pole for support. Complete with a
shadow on the grass and warm-up lane. For most of the race it read
"Northern Light.com" or "Northern Light Indy Racing Series". Then on the
final lap, Montoya's name and picture was shown on the sign.

My question is...... is it a real sign or computer generated? I did not
notice it when practice and qualifying was shown on tv. Hmmm......

I believe the sign is real, it's just painted blue/green (like the blue
screens used in movies) and the adverti***t is computer generated.
There's usually a patch of grass in that turn that has the CG ads, but they
had to change that with the F1 course.

This is virtual advertising. On the yesterday's DTM race
at Hockenheim were a few virtual signs on the track,
the TV-moderator has told this before the race like it is
a new highlight...

I've seen that on footage from the Bathurst Touring Car Race as well.  Logos
placed on the road at a downhill section.  Very effective.  Not too annoying
when done subtly.  In this case it was like a watermark and after a few laps
I didn't notice it any more.

You're partly right.  The sign was real, the crowd was
computer-generated.
