I like your nom de plume (sp?).
I wonder how many denizens of RAS would recognise this character?! :)

Yeah but...(Don't you just hate it when somebody starts out that way?)

Anyway...the main reason that I say that it's coming from this

This is the only place I've used that fake address.  I'm sure it's not
in anybody's address book because it's not real.  But the virus
messages I was getting were all coming to THAT address only.  I never
would have even known about them, except for the fact that I'm the
administrator for my domain name, and they got to me through the
"catch-all" system that it in place at my web hosting site.  Anything
that is not a real address that comes in, will always go to the
administrator.

I just went on my web-based email and checked my bogus username that I
had filtered all the abusive mail to.  And there were a bunch...so I'm
still getting them.  I didn't get them for a day there, so I thought
they were done.

But oh no!

I am seeing the same complaint from a couple other newsgroups, so looks like
a nifty worm gone rampant. Norton claims my comp is clean, although i was
getting 50 or so of those fake MS e-mails or the fake returned mail ones.
I'll just bounce the offending materials until this new game gets clamped
down. Hopefully someday this kinda stuff will be punishable by sterilization

(snip)
Well I have received 10 of the emails in the last week, consisting of
three different messages.  Fortunately I have Eudora instead of Outlook and
I have learned to keep the messages from displaying.  That plus my AVG
email scanner traps any virus before it can do it's dirty work.  So I
strongly recomend all the users here get some sort of email virus scanner,
AVG is free, and also use safe se...errr I mean safe Email procedures.
Anything from MS security update or Inet is bogus and probably has a
virus attached. Do not even highlight those for removal.  Use the shift key
to highlight the messages above and below those and then delete them all
without ever touching the email with one of those viri.
(I did that for Bruce) !  :)

Unless I am mistaken, the flaw in OE that would leak a potential virus simply by
viewing the email (without opening anything attached) is limited to 5.01 and
5.5.

I'm on 6.0, and temporarily filtering all of them to a hold folder to build a
filter list, and hence, viewing them at will.

Don't bounce, just throw away. I get about 100-200 daily now, and some
people even get 300+/hour.

Someone ought to get hanged on public television for this. I see a TV
format here; virus creators & crocodiles. ;-)
