Hi, I downloaded a 42MB colin Mcrae rally demo and found it to be for other
3d cards not 3dfx, damm it.

I think what he meant is that it will not work on 3dfx cards. Someone
forgot (ooops) to add a selection for 3dfx in the card selection...of
the game. It then does nothing and crashes back to the
desktop.....neato fun downloading a huge file and its broken.

Remember, it is not an official demo from Codemasters. That will be
released later.

Don't try to select the card just use default and it works fine, well
on my Voodoo1 anyway

Well it works on my CL Voodoo 2 12MB in either SLI or with one card.  I am
running direct X 5 and the 3dfx reference 3.0 drivers

I also have Win98 and had direct X 6 and it would not run.  I reinstalled Win98
and stayed with directX 5 and it works now.  Maybe it is a problem with directx
6?  

I got the transapent graphics that everybody talks about though.  The game
might be good, but I can't tell with a keyboard.
