rally I know one thing for sure: arcade drivers will HATE this game! In
simulation mode it's FAR from easy. After the first race (I almost ended up
3rd, but near the finish I crashed and I couldn't get into reverse soon
enough, so I ended up 8th) I was full of hope. I thought this would be an
easy ride. No victory, but top 10 for sure. After the second stage I was
18th... I did't have enough time to repair all I wanted. Did the best I
could and started the 3 stage. After finishing that one as 58th I was taken
out of the rally: my car didn't pass the test... (One great thing: you can
proceed to the next rally! No need to finish high, which I always hated in
CMR!)
Everyone knows arcade drivers hate long races. Well, some of these RC2K
babies will keep you occupied for more than half an hour. And they hate
having to fiddle around with setups (they may be simple, but they really do
have effect!)
I'd like to see one of these GPL wimps finish any RC2K rally as first. As
far as gameplay goes, this game needs a lot more dedication than the average
arcade game. Sim or no sim, it's great. It's hard (not that THAT makes any
game a sim!) and it's beautifull. I'm glad a crash into a tree doesn't end
the rally (like in real life) because in that case I would never ever finish
in the top 10 (or finish at all!) IMHO Mag Fields did the right thing with
this damage stuff. And they made a beautiful game that will keep anyone who
plays it busy for months.
Anyway, I wish everyone would stop moaning about sim or no sim. Who the hell
cares! You like a game or you don't like a game. Sim or not. As if playing
sim makes you a better person! Don't make me laugh. Playing 'sims' only
seems to make people smug. Even a sim is a game, for crying out loud. Even
GPL fanatics are just simple people, doing nothing more than moving pixels
around a flat screen with a fake wheel! Let's keep things in proportion,
please.
Hm, maybe we can start a new usenet group called rec.autos.games...
