SCGT- Running out of fuel?

by MrAdamHn » Mon, 03 May 1999 04:00:00

I must be missing something simple.....I keep running out of fuel during the
races, the AI cars are not pitting and they are able to finish the race, I am
falling about 2 laps short on the low setting races.

Is it my driving style or ????

It might be - I'll find myself going into the pits for fuel and cursing the AI
for not having to, only to see them there a lap or 2 later. I think since the
"wear rate" on fuel usage is time compressed, any little thing the AI does to
conserve fuel is exxagerated, just as any little thing you do to waste it is
also exxaggerated.

I see them pitting as much as I do, or at least when I pay attention to it.
First the obvious, are you remembering to specify a full tank after you,
perhaps, lighten the load for qualifying?

I know that they accelerate the fuel usage and tire wear.  I believe the value
is 4x for my races (which I've set to shortest length).  Anyone know if these
values change as you select longer races?

Yes, the compression values change as you select longer races. I
imagine, but haven't tested it conclusively, that they intend you to
have to pit equal number of times for each length race.
