Strange things in GP2

G'day

First, GP2 is great!  Sure it has it's few bugs, and I don't like
the way I can drive the same setup the same way in a race and my
lap times go down by 2-3 seconds, but it beats the hell out of your
car disappearing completely like on Laguna Seca in IndycarII or
driving around in circles in Nascar.  Each time I drive Nascar, I
worry that I'm missing some right hand turn onto the actual track
and just driving around a pit entry lane. :-)

I have a question tho'  I downloaded a new SVGA***pit (Williams)
and the 1996 car set which is incredible, and those people
involved have my undying respect and admiration for making a great
game even better.  I have very little artistic ability :-)

After setting these things up, and running GP2 with my normal SW
configuration, the game sped up dramatically.

eg. SVGA, Medium Detail, Road, Curb, Fence, Trackside and Grass
textures on is how I normally race.  My usually occupancy rate
for this around Adelaide is 117% on the main straight down to
76% on the back straight.  This dropped to 105% on the main
straight and 64% on the back after I loaded the car sets and
***pit - regularly.  It's clearly faster on other tracks
visually as well.   Not complaining, just confused - anyone
else seen this?

Running P120, 16mb, S3Virge(Trio64+) with 2mb
        SW - S3SPDUP(Vesa), Univbe5.3 on top
Mad Catz Steering wheel and Pedals.

Still trying to beat 1:23 for Monza (practice-practice-practice)

First: Where did you dl them?

The***pit was probably bigger than the normal one & the game does
not have to draw as much stuff on the fly now.

Good point about the***pit size.  Just to be different, I removed the
pcx file completely, and you can see even more!  haven't tested fps yet.

I downloaded a VGA***pit and noticed the same results. (DX4/100 have to
run in VGA to make it playable). weird.  Chris

Nothing strange at all!

I downloaded both***pits myself. They are just a tad bigger than the
original***pits which means they cover up a fraction more of the viewing
area that would normally need to be mapped and maintained. By being a little
larger, the occupancy rate drops around 5-10%.

Where can these be found, and what is the actual increase (in
terms of processor occupancy presumably).

Thanks.
