Network NASCAR, didn't care before, now I need help

by Merv Auchtu » Wed, 10 May 1995 04:00:00

I know this was covered before, but I didn't read it.
Now I need to know.  Can I run Papyrus NASCAR on a
network and have two people running at the same time?

If so, specifically, what do I need to do?

Prompt replies would be appreciated.  Either a post
or an e-mail.

Thanks.

Odd I should see this post. I was trying just this today over lunch. I
noticed that Nascar v1.2 has a few extra switches over v1.0 including
a -n:userid option. BUT, when a friend and I tried this it did
absolutely nothing at all as far as I could tell. We were using our
login userid's though. Since the crappy European, ***
Entertainment, manual doesn't exactly cover this new feature I'm
clueless.

I post here, what i heard from other people, but didn't try myself 'cos
i do not have a network running:

You need a network running Novell Netware 3 or 4, Novell lite won't work.
use the -n switch when starting nascar (if you need the form -n:<youruserid>
i'm not sure). Then enter the multiplayer menu, select direct connect,
enter the userid (if you didn't do it on the command line).
Now, one has to use dial, the other answer and if you get a connection
you're done.

Don't take that information for granted, it's just what i heard...

I've tried it with TCP/IP and it's not possible, except with IHHD, and
then only two players. You can always direct connect, although it'd be
cool if one could race more than one opponent.
