Interstate 76-- I've been beta testing it and it Rocks

Hey race fans,
I've been checking out this newsgroup for  quite a while, and once and
a while I'll post something, but this is big news. (well for me at
least)
For the last month I've been beta testing a new game from Activision
entitled Interstate 76. No this is not a commercial.
I just thought that I would let everyone know how cool and funky this
game is. It is due to be released very soon, next couple of weeks I
suppose..
It's a driving/ shoot em' up/ adventure game set in the 1970's, your
character guy is Groove Champion, his partner's name is Taurus.
This game has style to spare. Anyhow, the driving model seemed really
good to me. I am an avid player of GP2 and ICR2, amongst others, and I
rely on this NG to keep me updated on those titles. In this model,
your car actually pitches and dips according to how the car is thrown
around. It is bouncy, but it feels very real. It surprises me that
other racing sims have not really incorporated this much.
It will have Internet Multiplayer support, which I can say is a blast.
I would highly recommend it to anybody out there interested in
driving/ racing sims.
Well enough of that, take care and keep racing.

Check it out on there web site (www.activision.com if I'm not mistaken) They
say there are 30 different models (70 different cars altogether) and that
includes a mustang (but with a different, non copywrite infringing name) as
well as a 69 Lincoln, and AMC AMX, an old hot rod...A great diversity, I just
hope I don't need to buy a new computer to run it (ie a faster one...)

There's a old 'Cuda that is the main car, I think.  But then it is just
some old cool MOPAR muscle car.

I'm a Mustang freak too, hehe :) I think one of the 'enemy' cars is a GT350H,
It sure looked like it but the action was too fast to get a close up view. I
think I also saw a Mustang II. Your character's (Groove) car is an old 'Cuda,
your partner (Taurus) drives an old Lincoln. The enemies drive a bunch of
different stuff, I noticed an AMC Gremlin and a T-bucket.

A little more about the game... it's very obviously based on the MechWarrior2
graphics engine. If you've ever played MW2 you'll see this immediately. In the
upper right hand of the screen is a damage indicator. In MW2 this is a graphic
representation of your mech, showing damage levels on our arms, legs, etc. In
I76 it's a picture of a car, showing left & right doors, front, back. The game
is 'mission' based just like MW2: you have objectives, things you must blow up.
The game feel is also a LOT like MW2, you're just driving a car instead of a
big hulking mech. Personally i'm not a big mech2 fan, but if you enjoy a good
Nascar2 demolition derby like I do (and I know you're out there, i'm on Kali
too ;) then this is probably the game for you. When it comes out, that is.
