I just bought Mark Walker's Nascar Racing 2 - The Champion's Handbook. It is a
definitive guide on setups, driving techniques, etc. Among the interesting
things in the book ($19.95 at Borders)are an interview with Bobby Labonte and
an entire chapter on NROS! Somehow, Mark must have gotten inside with Papy
because the chapter goes into very fine details on how the NROS will be
organized, the points system, and even as far as mentioning Quarterly and
Annual championship procedures. Without stealing Mark's thunder, here's a
brief description:
(Flamers please note - I'm just passing along info as I've read it, if this is
wrong or offensive, deal with it. Regular readers please note this book was
published earlier this year so I don't know if any of this is accurate
anymore)
NROS will be broken down into 5 divisions, rookie, ameteur, novice, semi-pro,
and pro. NROS seasons will be 3 months in length with one race per week for 11
weeks and then a chapmionship race for the top 24 racers. Each division offers
that week's race at several different time slots (5:30-11:30 M-F and all day
Sat. & Sun.). Tracks will be randomly selected and announced at the beginning
of each quarter. The rookie div. will run 10% races no yellows no damage and
pros will run 30% real damage yellows on. amateurs run a bit longer than 10%,
arcade damage no yellows, novice 20%, arcade yellows on, etc etc.
I hope I'm not stirring up anything with this post, but I know I've been dying
to get this info for a long while and I thought ya'll might enjoy it. . .
