H'mmm, well, GPL as a whole takes a bit of getting used to, don't think
you can jump from most other sims into GPL and get it on! Generally
speaking 'straight line' braking is a must for GPL, (trail braking, a more
advanced technique takes a lot of practice) Try not to 'stamp' on the
brakes and lock everything up..... you will lose control that way, plus
scrub the tyres! Apply the brakes gently, just short of locking the
wheels, use your ears, look at the replays to see if you are locking up.
Two big *** skid marks on the track definitely means you are
overcooking it! Give your self more room (braking area) if need be, till
you get the hang of it. Monza is a good track to practice brake control,
lots of long fast straights where you can practice things.... also if you
feel/hear the brakes locking, try 'modulating' (pumping, on/off) the brake
pedal, this will allow you gain control over the locking up scenario!
Most important advise is..... practice, practice and then more practice
;-)
Best of luck.....
Split axis control with brake/throttle is better/faster (left foot
braking), but get the brake pressure thing right first to avoid locking
up.
