modem play and .pcx files?

by Larry Murris » Thu, 12 Oct 1995 04:00:00

My friend and I have discovered the world of modem NASCAR
and enjoy it.(it's nice to race someone who wrecks as much
as i do). Were both on V1.21 and the same car set with our
own custom cars. On my screen his car appears with my paint
job and I have Rick Mast's (Matt uses #1 as his car#). On
his screen it's the same situation. Do we need unused car
numbers? Do we need each others .pcx files loaded in our
car sets? Thanks for any info from anybody who has worked
this one out.

The caller uses car50.pcx (Rick Mast in my carset as well) and the
answerer uses the default car94.pcx.  You need to replace both pcx
files with your respective cars so that all will be well.  If you are
going to call, make sure that your friends car is in the car94.pcx
slot in your carset, and that your car is in the car50.pcx slot in
his carset.  It will automatically use the right information from
your drivers2.txt file for your names and numbers.  Just make a copy
of youir existing carsets and name it modem or something like that.
Replace the pcx files like I said above, and switch to this set
before you modem race.  Otherwise use the origional set so that Rick
Mast will still be there.

Hmm....what you could try is send each other your pcx files, export the
car #50, and then import each others car over car #50.  From what I've
read, that seems the first thing to try.

I wreck alot too.  I like denting bumpers on the short tracks.  <g>
