User input on the Saitek R440 Force Wheel

I'm not a gamer but I am a F1 fan so my wife bought me F1 2001.  I've been
investigating racing wheels and I came upon the Saitek R440 Force Wheel.
It's received some really good recommendation and my 8 year old son thinks
it looks sweet - so I need user feedback on this wheel.  I'm also open to
any other wheel recommendations.  My PC is a P4 1.6 ghz with 512 megs of
memory and a 64 meg graphics card so I know it's got enough horsepower.

I don't think too many people around here have tried this wheel.  It
looks sweet, but I haven't seen any feedback from people here on
R.A.S.

FWIW, I have a Saitek R4 Force wheel -- it used Microsoft innards, and
it was a pretty decent wheel.  Durable, good FF, a little plasticky,
pedals weren't great, but it was a decent package overall.

Hi,

I've been using mine since they were launched in the UK months ago. No
problems except that you need to use the beta drivers for XP (on their
website)
