Favorite N3 track?

N3 is the stepchild of N99 and N2 which have somewhat similar track
contructions that date back all the way the ICR2.(now called All
American Cart Racing or jut Cart Racing)
So with convertors that are available and some extra work from the
guys from the USPits, you can take any track Papy has created, including
the old old road courses from Cart and use them in N3.  We run leagues
on Sunday, and soon Wednesday night that use road courses exclusively,
not only the N3 road courses like Sears and Watkins, but the old old old
Mid Ohio, Laguna Seca, and Road America from CART.  I also expect a
convertor soon that will open up some of the flatter GPL tracks to N3
drivers.
part II:  There was in the early days of Online N3 racing, a patch
that allowed a host's track to be seen by all, even if it was not
supported by Won/Papy/Sierra.  I expect, that whomever figured out how
to do that, is already prying apart the newer Papy patches to allow the
function again.  While I appreciate Papy's wanting to limit the
tracks, this makes support on their end much easier, I own all the
tracks, and convertors and since I've been driving them in some form or
another for years, I expect to be able to continue that online as well.

In the "early" (hehe) days of N3 you could race any track.....period. The
only limit  was the 40 track limit in the host's all.cal and the 64 track
limit of the tracks folder. Then during the "early" days of the beta
patching process the calendar limit was raised to 60. Still could see any
track that a host desired to put up. Well any that was based on a N2, N99,
N3 or NL track anyway. I can't really speak to how it handled some of the
tracks you mention using regularly. Then around the 1100 series of beta
patches if I remeber right is when the filtering of any non-N3 tracks was
put in place.

That's the thing that really bites is that they took something away that we
already had and had become accustomed to using.
Hopefully this will all be remedied before to long and we can all crawl up
out of the sewer and have a user based system that WE can control.

Kool,
Thanks for the info Dave.
Is the ICR2>N3 converter availiable anywhere?
I have the new N3>GPL<ICR2 converter, will that work?

Nope I'm pretty sure the new convertor is a one way deal so far where
you enable older tracks or N3 tracks to work with GPL.  The N2>ICR2 and
ICR2>N2 convertor is a package deal from theuspits.com   Same Dave
Noonan, just his earlier work.  There is a 3 track demo also available
from the pits for free, but the full convertor is $15.

Bristol, Atlanta, C***te.  I liked Martinsville in n2/n99, but I haven't
played n3 that much yet...

I have to agree, at first the best i could run at darlington in N2 was about
163 then i started just lifting instead of braking into what is now turn 1 and
picked up to 168 for lap speeds.

> Gotta go faster than you would ever think you could possibly go there.

> Timing the braking point in 3 is critical too. Brake hard that little patch

> windshield. Gotta time it to where you catch that bump just right.

> Try to hold around 165 in 1-2 and 145 in 3-4 for starters. Then start
> working towards 170 on the big end and 150 or so on the little end.

> Going to slow is death at Darlington. Took me a long time to figure that

Atlanta - wide, fast, and i always run well there
Rockingham - a challenging track
Martinsville - 500 lap traffic jam
