I have no clue as to where that program is today.
Damn!

I'm pretty sure that Denny was there to actually drive....I know that he
certainly started in the race (he earned the Rookie award that year) but
cannot remember whom he was driving for.
Chris Amon was slated to drive but during practice he didn't feel
comfortable about that type of racing and actually went back to Europe
before the Qualifying sessions.
Jochen Rindt was to drive one of the Eagles. Whether he did or not I don't
know.
I remember this race as being famous for "Silent Sam", the STP-sponsored
turbine machine driven by Parnelli Jones....which almost won the race. This
was the first major motor-sport event that we here in Oz ever received
direct via satellite....I stayed up all night watching it on a B&W 12"
screen, totally fascinated. We revelled in the fact that it was being
broadcast by the National broadcaster and was, therefore, not interrupted by
commercials!
Aaah! Memories! :-)

I have a pic here of Mr. Amon talking to Mr. Bondurant whilst they're
leaning against the pit wall. In the background is a section of the crowd
and people walking along pit row.
I have looked closely but can't find a youth with pen in one hand and
programme in the other, Rrevved :-)

i'll never forget jochen coming between the stands (gasoline alley) to
the pit area gate entrance, and jsut prior to the car nose crossing
the line into the pit area he Fired that Brabham- REPCO up!!! wa-HAP
wa-HAP braaaaa and he drove into the pits - and directly out onto the
track. later he learned of his fine ($5000) If i recall, because you
weren't supposed to fire the engien in a public area. and all the
other cars having to be started by remote starters, this caught
everyone by surprise.
denny Hulme drove for Dan Gurney in an AllAmerican Racer- Eagle.
on a typical May afternoon i was walking to work downtown(morning a
student-afternoon part time work) and as i stood on the corner waiting
for the light to change, to my left stood a gentleman that looked
familiar... DENNY HULME...i said in my 18 year old exurberance...he
smiled..here is every race fans dream - having a driver all to
yourself to ask that earth shatttering question...and all i could say
was ' good luck in the race' and we crossed the street... fond
memories.
this race was a continuation. having been rain stopped at 18 laps the
day before. the Turbine - driven by Parnelli was not a fan favorite.
the whoosh-mobile becasue the tires on the track made more sound than
the engine! to alot of fans delight it came coasting to a stop with 4
laps to go.
and AJ Foyt weaved through a carnage of debris from a turn 4 crash,
that sprewed 1/2 way down the front stretch, AJ crossed the finish
line doing about 60mph!
thanks for reminding me :)

Jochen Rindt drove a Brabham-repco. i remember him firing the motor as
he approached the pit area... and drivng straight out onto the track.
being the only car with an onboard starter it caught alot of us
unaware...and mr rindt also, as he later learned of his fine ($5000) i
think. engines were not to be started in areas where the ublic had
access.
denny hulme drove for dan gurney, in an AAR eagle.
i still have my autographs...Clark-Hill-Brabham-must have about 70
altogether...
the whoosh-mbile (turbine)driven by Parnelli was not a fan favorite
except when it came coasting into the pits silen. it was 'whoosh',
because the tires on the track made more sound than the engine at
speed! the end of auto racing we all feared, as we all knew SOUND is
what drew us to the track!
then with 4 laps remaining. AJ Foyt weaved thru a last lap crash that
spewed debis 1/2way down the front straight to win, crossing the s/f
line at about 60 mph...
thanks for reminding me-
