ok...i'm open to the suggestion that it is me that is crap, but when
using indy2 i find that the braking distances that i need to use are
far greater than the AI cars seem to use. for instance trying to
brake for the 2 chicanes on the backside of the australian
track is a nightmare (and when the distance markers
disapear....forget it) I know that the amount of downforce in
the real indycars have been reduced, has the AI taken this
into account. Currently i use a joystick, but might have to
think about a wheel of somekind.
Also anyone tried using the F193 and 95 zip files from the
pits?...i cant get close to them on 100%...nice to look at but too
***y quick in the road courses, for me at least.
I never had all this hassle with indy 1...Any advice would be
appreciated.....and yes i probably am crap:)

Thats because Steve tuned them to drive like F1 cars! Quick and
nimble!

Don't know if this is true in EVERY case; I find that (with a joystick, 100%
opponents) I can wait MUCH deeper into many corners than the AI cars before braking.
This is, in fact, how I manage to get around them - I sure as heck can't out
accelerate them ! Specific points in mind:

1) End of long straights at Elkhart (for sure my favorite course).
2) End of front straight at Laguna, just into the Corkscrew, then into the turn just
before the pit entrance and front straight.

and probably others as well. Places where I can't out-brake, I probably just don't
know my braking points as well. It's definitely a SKILL.

Billy, you're not crap, maybe just your joystick.  A wheel combo helps
alot.  I've turned a 1:41.1xx at Elkhart Lake but can't qualify any
better than 20th with the f195 carset!

Some braking tips:
Yes, earlier braking is often needed.  What I do (I'm a T1 user) is put the
brake to the floor and quickly release it halfway -- this will help you get
into the corner.  You can steer real well with the brake pedal only halfway
down.  Also, you might want to try adjusting your brake bias.  Move it to the
left to increase steering ability under braking.  (This might make you too
loose, though.)

This is true.  The AI brake much worse than in ICR1.

: It's definitely a SKILL.

I wouldn't say that.  It's quite easy to outbrake the AI.  Not as easy as
World Circuit, but far easier than ICR1.

At least in ICR1 they would make a counter move (ie blocking) or use less
brake themselves if you tried.  They just don't seem to do that in ICR2.
At least not at Toronto where I can outbrake them from 50ft back, easy.

I also find the fact that the AI cars seem to follow the corner
exactly where as I take a line straight through the centre of
both corners (the back chicane at Australia).  It just seems a
little odd that the AI cars can throw these amazing left right
left combos at the same speed as I go straight through.  If I try
to emulate the AI cars I will hit the wall.  Why cant the drive on
the grass straight through this corner???

Not only would I like to have the BRAKES that the AI cars have, I'd also like
to have the ability to spin myself around and get headed in the right direction
as fast as the AI cars!  There again, that wouldn't be a problem if i would
stay on course, huh?!?! I guess I must be ***too - billy's ***one, I'm ***

It is however, not a good idea to brake while cornering.
You should always try to be at the cornering speed before
entering the corner and as soon as you pass the apex you
should accelerate again.  Braking while cornering makes the
car unsteady and control is often made difficult.
