There really is NO WAY to get the game running back except Reinstalling NASCAR.
Just delete the NASCAR Directory,  and install it again.

Ok, here it goes, I downloaded a carset, and not following directions,

I'm not sure. Try the gameopts.cfg.in your file manager.Go in and look
all the way to the right and change the carset to cars94 or whatever.This
has worked for me.Good luck.

copy c:\nascar\cars to c:\nascar
try it.. it may sound simple but it should work

Not true. Delete the file GAMEOPTS.CFG. This will revert nascar racing
back to Cars94.

Why not?
Installing the game is very quick.   First save your personalized settings, and
re-install over the top... and replace them.

If you believe just your cars directories to be corrupted, copy them from the CD.

Just delete the "gameopts.cfg" file, and reboot.
