Not very fast, he calls that. I can only dream of those lap times for now.

I have an Athlon 800 MHz with a Geforce DDR, I think I get enough HP there :-)

Hehe. I hear you.

Yep, at times I was ready to toss the game out the window and go MTB-ing.
Too cold, so I went ahead with GPL.

Cheers,

Dennis.

IMO don't mess with the trainers (F3) cars. Go straight for the GP/F1 cars
and get used to the power. I think the slower cars are great in their way,
but I'm not convinced driving them prepares you for "The Real Thing" (tm).
F2 racing online can be a lot of fun... mind you, F3 bores me to tears.
Many others disagree though.

It loads the setups for practice/race that are set up in the setup screen.

Heh, it took me too years to be this "fast" :-) I guess I'm fairly average
for a GPLer these days. Not in danger of breaking any world records, but
by being careful and actually staying in a race to the end I can do fairly
well.

Enjoy climbing the learning curve. At the start you improve pretty
quickly. At the stage I'm at I'm lucky if I gain a few hundreds on a track
once in a blue moon. It's still as much fun as it's ever been though,
which is the only thing that matters to me!

Nice to hear from a new devotee to the GPL fanclub. :)  One thing that I
would like to check with you though, and which can make this game a lot
more drivable.  How's your frame rate, press alt-f whilst driving.  Try
to get it as near to 36fps as possible, it will make a world of
difference.

<snip>

Yeah, there are 3 types of car available in training mode and basically
you were using one of the lower powered cars to race with.  Generally
speaking we tend to call them F1 (full powered) to F2 and then down to
F3 the lowest powered car.   I would imagine that you were driving an F3
car.   It's been a long time since I chose the trainers, but I'm pretty
sure it's easy to select the F1 type if that's the one you want to use,
just before going to the track.

In a race with 19 opponents, I get 23 fps at the start and for the rest
of the race, 36 fps. In training always 36. Is 36 the upperlimit for GPL?
(I'm using an Athlon 800 with Geforce DDR and 192 MB).
