OT: GPL/Excel help, please.

Hi all,

I've set up an Excel sheet to keep track of my best times and compare
against the 107%, Papy benchmark and Alison Hines' Cooper times, but on the
few occasions when my times are better, and the result of [My
Time]-[Compared Time] should give a negative result, Excel fills the cell
with ###'s. I'm using a custom format for the cells of "mm:ss:oo". Has
anyone else successfully set up their own 'home GPLRank', and if so could
you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Rick.

I'm quite new to excel so this is just a guess.
Have you tried making the cells width larger, if there isn't room to display
the results you get what you described happening

well, the format should be mm:ss.00 with zeros and not the letter o as in
your post, if you've put zeros and still have the problem than check what
Ian P has said cause it might well be this, alternatively mail me your excel
sheet and i'll correct that for you

### is not an error, it's just that the cell is too small.
Just widen the column & it'll display the number properly.

Thanks all - found the problem at 1:30am..!

The calendar system has to be changed from '1900' to '1904'.

I haven't a clue about what this does, how it does it or why, but it does
work.

Now that's sorted, I've got about 3 minutes to lose from somewhere...

Regards,

Rick.

Did you try making the column slightly wider? Excel does that if the number
displayed is too big to fit into the cell width. A negative number is
"wider" than a positive one due to the minus sign.

You can size the column to fit the data in it by selecting the column and
choosing Format|Column|Autofit Selection
