I wrote a guide that oughtta be right up your alley. Inside is everything
you can do to make your PC faster.

It isn't specific to GPL, but you may be pleasantly suprised anyway.

That's an excellent guide David which no sim racer should be denied.
Do you mind if I post it on the site? Full credit will be given of course

A few additional notes:

* Via's 4-in-1 driver and various other patches for Via chipsets are
available here:
http://www.viahardware.com/download/index.shtm

* Tweakfiles is unfortunately defunct for lack of funds. Similarly useful
registry and DLL cleaning applications are available here:

Clean System
http://www.theabsolute.net/sware/files/clnsysdr.zip

RegVac
http://regvac.com/downloads/regvacz.exe

RegClean
ftp://ftp.sunnet.com.br/regcln41.exe

* To enable DMA on older chipsets:

Windows 2000/XP:

Right click My Computer ~> Properties ~> Hardware ~> Device Manager
~> IDE ATA/ATAPU Controllers ~> Primary & Secondary IDE Channels
~> Properties ~> Advanced Settings

Windows 98:

Right click My Computer ~> Properties ~> Device Manager
~> Desk Drives ~> Generic IDE Disks Type XX ~> Properties ~> Settings

DMA should be checked or selected for both drives/drive controllers.
