Note the quotes around "sim", that's meant to be toungue-in-cheek. ;-)

Our game is firmly seated in the arcade driving category (though it
does have 3D physics simulation - the driving model is probably most
similar to Driver).

We've been working "The Simpsons Road Rage" for about a year (I am one
of the game's designers). It's just been demo'd and announced at E3.
Here's the press release:

"Finally, Radical Entertainments The Simpsons Road Rage for PS2 and
Xbox relocates the series characters and the town of Springfield into
a driving game similar to Crazy Taxi. When Mr. Burns buys the
Springfield Transit Corporation and jacks up the fares, the citizens
haphazardly drive each other around town in order to earn enough money
to buy back their transit system. Thirty-five characters populate 12
neighborhoods in this go-anywhere virtual Springfield."

How do you think it compares to GPL?

It's WAAAYYY more realistic than that arcade trash...

...just kidding! ;-)

Actually all three of the game designers are big GPL fans. We often
have LAN races after-hours at the office. While our game is the polar
opposite of GPL in most respects, the one characteristic of GPL we
wanted to capture was that of constant danger, driving on the edge,
the feeling that you're driving just a little bit faster than you
should be.

Interesting, the license for "The Simpsons" is really taking off since about
a year.  The marketing dept. probably assumes the soon end of the show and
wants to cash in the most with it (I mean, there hasn't been that much
titles with it's license since the start of the 90's).
