WinVroc help needed!

Hi,

I read here all the time of you guy's 'n' gals having a great time racing
online. It does sound like fun, and I would love to give it a try. However,
I have *never* once had WinVroc to actually connect me to a race. I have
tried quite a few things that people have suggested, but still no joy. Here
is what's happening!

I have the *latest* version of Winvroc. I am running the "correct" version
of GPL. I have tried both with, and without any of my firewalls active. I
have the server fix address for winvroc. I CAN connect to the winvroc server
and get a list of running/active races *every* time. But this is when things
start to go wrong. I choose a race, (non-password), than I click on join.
Winvroc minimises to the taskbar, and the small window appears on screen,
informing you that winvroc is launching GPL. So far, so good. As soon as GPL
starts, you get a VERY quick look at the startup screen, then GPL just
closes, as if you exited the game in the "normal" way. Winvroc then
re-appears, re-connects to the server, and once again displays the
active/running races screen!

If you have a *successful* connection, what exactly happens when GPL starts?
And how do you actually enter the race? How can I cure this problem? ANY
suggestions would be welcome, as I would really like to get this working. I
use a 56k modem. my ISP is usually reliable, with a good connection *most*
of the time. Could it be my ISP knows if you are an "online" gamer, and
won't allow it? Just a thought. Thanks for any help on this.

Do you have FSAA turned on? If so, turn it off, VROC will NOT work with
FSAA.

Dont know about V5, but with NVidia cards (GeForce series) you cant use FSAA
when online over Vroc. It works fine in offline mode, and if u connect
directly over server's IP, but when using Vroc u want be able to join a
race.

Mad Max.. look under display properties, and Direct3D, then advanced (or
similar- I'm in W2000 here). Look for a line "force FSAA in all aplications"
and make sure it is DISABLED. U can use some program like NVMax which will
enable or disable FSAA with a click of a button.

enjoy (even if its a bit jaggied :)
